It’s ON!!!
Let the fight begin! And I’m not talking about the agreement between Connor MacGregor and Logan Paul to get it on in the squared circle at some future date. Let’s just hope that this does not turn out to be another debacle, ala ripoff of millions of hard earned dollars that was billed as a fight between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul. After all the hype leading into that fight, what the fans got watching worldwide and onsite at the AT&T Stadium was a poor display of bobbing, weaving, pulled punches and piss poor acting. The winners in this fight…..big boost in subscriptions for Netflix (perhaps) and pig paychecks for Jake Paul and Mike Tyson. They fooled everyone into thinking that this would be a legitimate brawl. But….I digress.
The real battle begins at 7:30 EST in Las Vegas as the home team, our Oklahoma City Thunder throws down against the oldest team in the NBA, the Milwaukee Bucks. The Thunder at 18-5 versus the Bucks at 14-11. Take your pick. The Cup and the big bucks are on the line and the odds makers are giving OKC a 74% chance to come out on top. That’s what they think. But in reality, the odds mean nothing more than a calculated guess of the outcome. Both teams will show up with their “A” game, and the Thunder just needs the same performance that propelled themselves, convincingly past the Dallas Mavericks and that other team from Texas, the Houston Rockets to capture the cup and get the big payday for every player. No shade is being intentionally thrown toward the third Texas team, the San Antonio Spurs, who, while being on the rise behind the big guy, Victor Wembanyama, are not deserving of mention here.
Well deserved respect is starting to trickle in for OKC but to the players, all that means very little. Tonight, when the chip are down, defensive pressure will be the difference. Offense puts up the points but D-fense will win the game. Every other team will be watching the cream of the crop go head to head when the game begins tonight and when the dust settles, no one will be able to honestly deny that a new NBA dynasty is in the making and THIS small market team is making the biggest splash in the pond. Warriors, Lakers, Suns, Nuggets, Mavericks, Celtics, Clippers and the rest of the wannabees??……….. get your popcorn and snacks, take your seats and watch how it’s done. Let the game begin!!! Thunder UP!
