Fear and loathing 2024
Tension is rising. Fear, anger, accusations, finger-pointing, he said she said and on top of it all, two…..yes two assassination attempts to date, so far on one candidate for president of the United States. Truth, lies, incredulous stories, promises being made all in the midst of existing global threats, a missing Commander-in-Chief, hostages in the Middle East, looming enemies in the Far East, reports of rampant violence increasing in our cities across the nation. Lord, help us because things are getting worse and not better. I feel like I’m being forced to watch a horror story unfolding before my eyes each day when I tune in to the daily news and when I dare to pull up YouTube. These are scary times we are living in today and I fear that the worse is yet to come. Where is hope? Who is the better choice this time around? Our emotions are being stirred and steered by ABC, NBC, CNN and Fox, as we sit in our living rooms, not really sure of what’s happening beyond our driveways. Political poison is being fed to us, dividing families and destroying friendships because of differences in opinions about which person is right for the huge responsibility of “righting the ship” and guiding this nation back in the direction of peace and prosperity. In this political chess game, the stakes couldn’t be higher. The gloves are off and expectations of honesty and transparency are fleeting dreams as we try to sort out who’s being truthful, who’s just telling us what they think we want to hear to get our vote and why the major media is more biased than objective in their reporting of the news. The right to vote is granted to those who live here legally. But are we to believe that somehow, in some way, votes will be cast by illegal aliens because voting laws are structured in a way that will permit voter fraud? Is the huge influx of illegal aliens somehow tied to an effort to influence the outcome of this election? How did we rise to such an emotional level that one would celebrate the demise of anyone else in this climate of hate and the struggle to occupy the highest office in the land? Whether you vote Democrat, Republican, Independent or choose not to vote at all, when the dust settles and the winner is determined, life goes on in our individual worlds and the blame or credit for what does or does not happen will be out of our hands, as it’s always been as we adjust and adapt to survive and thrive as we have always done. God Bless America! We need you like never before going forward and may the young see a brighter day on our horizon and the world survive these troubled times.
